Tarangire National Park
The Tarangire National Park covers an area of 2600 sq. kms. Its name
is derived from the Tarangire River which flows through the park throughout
the year. The Tarangire National Park forms a “dry season retreat”
for much of the wildlife of the southern Masailand.
The animals that move north during the wet season include wildebeest,
zebra, Thompson’s Gazelle, buffalo, eland and hartebeest. The National
Park is also home to approximately over 300 species of birds. The
great baobab trees form a beautiful feature of the park.
Also included within its borders are a number of hills, as well as
rivers and swamps. |
