Day 1:This morning, head north
to the dramatic semi-arid scrubland of the Northern Frontier. After
lunch, an afternoon game drive. This reserve, located around the life-giving
Uaso Nyiro River, is home to the rare, beautiful and resident wildlife
species like the Reticulated Giraffe, Grevy’s Zebra, Beisa Oryx and
the blue-necked Somali Ostrich that are rare elsewhere in the country.
Thereafter return to one of the luxurious Samburu lodges, located
along the banks of the Uaso Nyiro River for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Early morning and afternoon game drives give you a
chance to explore some of the world’s most spectacular and exciting
terrain. Meals and overnight at the lodge.
Day 3: After breakfast, head towards the Aberdares Ranges.
Lunch at a base hotel followed by transfer to your tree lodge situated
deep in the Aberdare forest. Here, forest animals visit the floodlit
waterhole and saltlick throughout the day and night, thus ensuring
the pleasure of unlimited, all night game viewing from the vicinity
of the lodge.
Day 4: After breakfast, transfer to your base hotel for onward
journey to Lake Nakuru National Park situated on the floor of the
world’s greatest land rift - the Great Rift Valley. After lunch, enjoy
an afternoon game drive in the park. This park provides a sanctuary
for the endangered black rhino and the Rothschild's Giraffe. Additionally,
the fluctuating shores of Lake Nakuru host one of the greatest bird
spectacles in the world - millions of flamingoes that turn the shores
of the lake pink. Dinner and overnight at the Lodge.
Day 5: After breakfast, drive through the breathtakingly,
spectacular Great Rift Valley to Masai Mara – the greatest of nature's
stages. After lunch, enjoy an afternoon game drive to get a closer
look at the Mara. On the plains, with their endless vistas and enormous
herds of grazing animals, look for the predators hidden among the
acacia trees: Black-maned lion, cheetah and leopard. There are hippos
in the rivers and exotic birds everywhere. Thereafter, return to your
lodge / tented camp for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 6: Two game drives for the day in this country of breath-taking
vistas, a panorama of vast rolling plains and rounded hills, of intermittent
groves of acacia woodlands and dense thickets of scrub. And in every
direction there are seemingly endless herds of game animals - black
maned lions, buffalo, black rhino, hippopotamus, leopard, cheetah,
common zebra, Coke’s hartebeest, white-bearded gnu, oribi, warthog
and Thomson’s and Grant’s gazelles. The bird life of Mara is as profuse
as its mammalian fauna. All meals and overnight stay are at the lodge
/ tented camp.
Day 7: After breakfast depart for Nairobi. Arrive at a city
hotel for overnight stay. Rest of the afternoon is at leisure to enjoy
the many ammenities of the hotel.
Day 8: After breakfast, depart for Namanga, the Kenya-Tanzania
border. On completion of border formalities, transfer to Arusha for
lunch. Thereafter, transfer to Ngorongoro for dinner and overnight
at a lodge located on the rim of the crater.
Day 9: After breakfast and with a picnic lunch in tow, descend
to the crater floor for a unique experience of game viewing. Ngorongoro
was declared a World Heritage site in 1978 in recognition of its beauty
and importance. The crater has an area of 265 sq. km. All of the big
game: lions, rhino, elephants can be seen here. Thereafter, return
to your strategically located lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 10: After breakfast, drive to the Serengeti Plains, the
most famous of Tanzania's National Parks, via Olduvai Gorge. It is
most well-known for the annual migration which takes place across
the great savannah plains, a phenomenal sight; thousands and thousands
of wildebeest as far as the eye can see. Arrive at a luxurious lodge
in time for lunch. An early evening game drive and then return to
the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 11: Two game drives to enjoy Serengeti. Look out for the
leopard along the riverine forest and witness the vast herds of plain
animals. Lion and cheetah may also be spotted lurking around the many
kopjes' in the area. Meals and overnight stay at the luxurious Serengeti
lodge.
Day 12: After breakfast, drive towards Lake Manyara National
Park to see the famous tree-climbing lions. Arrive in time for lunch.
Lake Manyara National Park is situated spectacularly between the Great
Rift Valley Escarpment and Lake Manyara. During a game drive animals
such as elephants and hippo can be seen. Bird life, both resident
and migratory, is prominent in the Park. At certain times of the year
the lake is home to thousands of flamingoes. Dinner and overnight
at a lodge situated in the Park.
Day 13: After breakfast, return to Arusha for lunch and then
back to Nairobi. |
